Magnolia Grandiflora Arbustiva, Popularly known as southern magnolia or bull bay, this evergreen member of the Magnoliaceae is native to the southeast of the US an aera including Virginia, Florida, Oklahoma and East Texas. It is a tree of enormous ornamental beauty, reaching up to 30 in height. Slow in growth, it displays a pyramidal shape, ramified right from the base, open and of little density. Cultivated as an ornamental for its ramification and its attractive flowers, it resists reasonably well against the cold, but not against severe frost. It prefers silicic soil and adapts well to fresh, profound and humid grounds low in lime. Requires constant watering in the summer months.
