Arbutus Unedo, Commonly known as strawberry tree, this evergreen shrub belongs to the Ericaceae family and is found predominantly along the western mediterranean coastline. Also extended in other areas of southwest Europe, it prefers plains or hilly landscapes. Reaching heights of up to 10m, it is an ideal species to be used as an ornamental due to its foliage, blossoms and fruit. Dwells best in sunny settings, humid soils, moderate watering, as it is frequently encountered along riverbanks. It can be planted as a single specimen plant, in groups or even forming barriers. Best adapted to decalcified, fresh soil, it also flourishes on chalky grounds.
