Quercus Robur, Popularly named English oak, French oak or pedunculate oak, this species belongs to the Fagaceae family and is native to most of Europe, Anatolia and the Caucasus. This deciduous tree of medium size grows about 25m tall. It is appreciated for being energy efficenct, its wood being used to produce high-quality charcoal. Robust and elegant in shape, its foliage displays an impressive colouring in autumn, making it one of the most beautiful trees and giving it a high ornamental value. Oaks resist vigorous winters and springtime frost, though during the summer’s heat it requires moist terrain. It demands profound, fresh and humid soil, preferably siliceous.
