Catalpa Bignonioides, This member of the Bignoniaceae family, native to the southeastern states of the US, is more commonly known under the names of southern catalpa, cigar tree or Indian bean tree. This deciduous species of 9-12m in size is frequently planted in urban spaces. As it is quick in growth, it is a sensible choice to be planted separately along wide avenues or in rows when it comes to narrower streets. Resistant to severe frost, it also tolerates lime and scarce subsoil. Requiring watering in summer, it is tolerant to cold in winter.
