Sabal Palmeto , Known as sabal palm or cabbage palmetto, this species belongs to the Arecaceae (earlier known as Palmaceae) and is native to South Carolina and Florida. Reaching heights between 5 – 20 m, it develops a trunk of up to 50 cm in diametre. It is a slowly growing but resilient tree, prospering on sandy grounds or wetlands with slow drainage. Adapats well to maritime settings, making it an excellent choice for a coastal setting. Extremely resistant in the face of heat, strong winds, cold, drought and negligence, always keeping its shape and easily transplanted.
